COVID-19 Vaccination Info

EXPANDING ELIGIBILITY

As more vaccine becomes available, Wisconsin continues to expand eligibility and recently moved up the next expansion group from March 29 to March 22. On Monday March 22, individuals with certain medical conditions that have a greater risk of severe infection from COVID-19 will be eligible.
While educators were highlighted in the March 1 eligibility group, many others became eligible then as well, including restaurant workers, utility workers, and individuals served in a Medicaid long-term care program.
A full list all currently eligible people and of eligible medical conditions for the March 22 group can be found here: https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/vaccine-about.htm.

EMPLOYER TOOLKIT

A webinar hosted on March 17 for businesses included a toolkit for employers with curated resources and ready-to-share graphics. Please share with any organizations and businesses in your networks: https://www.mmac.org/vaccinetoolkit.html

WISCONSIN LEADS THE WAY

Wisconsin continues to be a national leader in vaccine administration. According to data compiled by Bloomberg, Wisconsin has administered 92.8% of all doses allocated to the state, the highest mark in the country. Most of the remaining 7.2% not administered yet are making their way to vaccination sites or set aside as second doses. Of the more than 2 million doses already administered in Wisconsin, just 0.19% have been unusable.

Beginning March 22, all individuals 18 years of age and older living in specific Milwaukee County zip codes are eligible to receive a vaccine. The zip codes included are: 53204, 53205, 53206, 53209, 53215, 53216, 53218, 53223, 53224, 53233. Racism is a public health crisis that results in chronic, toxic stress. To address these issues, the zip codes selected are based on the CDC’s social vulnerability index. Individuals in these zip codes have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, and Milwaukee leaders are implementing this program to assure individuals have an opportunity to receive the vaccine.

Vaccination sites for this program are expanding too with two community vaccination clinics at North Division High School, 1011 W. Center St. and South Division High School, 1515 W. Lapham Blvd. These sites will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from March 22 to April 19.
